In recent years, the complexity in the design and integration of vehicle systems has increased exponentially, with strong interdependency among mechanics subsystems, electronic hardware and software in the system, and also with other systems. New functionalities, the incorporation of new sensors, actuators, and higher software content in vehicles, together with the need to increase safety and reliability and reduce development time and costs, make it necessary the use of advanced design and development tools.

In this framework, this proposal envisages the definition and application of advanced Model Based System Engineering, Dynamic System Simulation and X-in-the-Loop methodologies and tools to the whole process of (semi-) active suspension systems development, from
requirements management and system definition to the design, integration and verification of the product.
